uPVC Door & Window Repair FAQs
Can you fix a uPVC door or window that won't lock?
Yes. A uPVC door or window that won't lock is usually caused by a worn or broken multipoint or espag mechanism, a faulty cylinder, or a door that has dropped out of alignment. MK Locksmith Service diagnoses the fault, then repairs, realigns or replaces the parts needed so it locks securely again.
Which uPVC door and window parts can you repair or replace?
We repair and replace multipoint locking mechanisms, espag (espagnolette) window mechanisms, euro cylinders, handles, hinges and glass on uPVC doors and windows. We also realign doors and windows that have dropped or no longer close properly.
Why is my uPVC door handle stiff or hard to lift?
A stiff handle usually means the door has dropped or moved out of alignment, so the locking points no longer line up with the frame. It can also be a sign that the multipoint mechanism is wearing out. It's worth getting it looked at early, because forcing the handle can break the mechanism and leave you unable to lock the door.
Is it cheaper to repair uPVC windows than replace them?
In most cases, yes. If the frame and glazing are in good condition, replacing the faulty mechanism, handle or hinge usually costs far less than a new window or door. We'll tell you honestly whether a repair makes sense and give you a free quote.
Can a uPVC window overhaul improve security and insulation?
Yes. A full overhaul replaces worn mechanisms, handles and hinges and adjusts the fit of each window. That makes windows more secure and helps them seal properly, which reduces draughts and heat loss. We cover homes and businesses across Hull, Beverley and East Yorkshire.
